For those who interested in how the pictures were produced, here is a list of equipment that are used and the step-by-step description of what's done.
Equipment Used
The following is a list of equipment and tools used to produce the pictures on the web site:
A really old Pentium II computer
ATI All-in-Wonder 128 (16 MB) Video Card
Panasonic Video Cassette Recorder (VCR)
Generic no-name video tapes
Appropriate cables to connect between the VCR and the AiW
Steps involved
Record the news from TV Station
Hook up the VCR to the All-in-Wonder card with the proper cables
Start the TV Program supplied with the AiW card
Play back the tape on the VCR
At the moment when there is a smile, click the Capture button and capture the image
Rewind the tape and do a few different captures to get the best result
Save the image at 640 x 486 resolution since there are always few extra black lines at the bottom of the screen. I guess it's due to the conversion between PAL & NTSC
Use a paint program to touch up the images, which include the following:
Crop image to 640 x 480
Touch-up image to proper eye-pleasing colours
Remove the colours from TVB logo (if any)
Resize and reduce image to 320 x 240
Save the image in JPEG format
Finally, do the HTML on the web page, then send images and HTML pages to server with an FTP program.
